Pancasila University was founded on October 28, 1966, is an amalgamation of the (old) Pancasila University which was founded in 1963 and Bung Karno University.

Pancasila, which is used as the name of this university, is not just an identity card differentiator from other universities, but has an essential depth of meaning, in accordance with the mission being carried Pancasila University, namely "Providing a positive role in the development of science and technology as well as the development of a Pancasila society as aspired to in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution."

It is in this framework that Pancasila University intends and intends to produce scholars who have Pancasila spirit, have values ​​and attitudes, knowledge, intelligence, communication skills and abilities, and ecological awareness for development and fostering in the fields of law, economy and ecology to support development.

In carrying out the wheel of life in the academic field, at the initial stage there was a land area of ​​10,160 m2 and a building area of ​​5,196 m2 located on Jl. Borobudur No. 7 Central Jakarta. The land and building were donated from the Government cq. The Ministry of Finance to the Pancasila University Education and Development Foundation (YPPUP) which was signed on April 21, 1987. In addition, in 1985, Pancasila University received a building loan on Jl. Garuda Kemayoran, Central Jakarta for the activities of the Faculty of Economics.

With the completion of the construction of the Faculty of Economics building in Srengseng Sawah, South Jakarta in 1988, the Faculty of Economics student lecture moved to a new building and was gradually followed by other faculties. Currently, Pancasila University already has a campus in Srengseng Sawah covering an area of ​​111,255 m2 with a building area of ​​38,076 m2 consisting of the Rector, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Engineering, while the campus is Jl. Borobudur No. 7 Central Jakarta, currently used for lectures for the Postgraduate Program.

In terms of management, general development of Pancasila University is under the auspices of the foundation, namely the Pancasila University Education and Trustees Foundation which was established with a G.H.S. Loemban Tobing S.H Number: 14 dated January 19, 1970.
